What can I expect during my session?
This is the easiest part! Be yourself, and expect your kids to act like, well, your kids (grown-ups...you can feel free to act like kids too)! Feel free to play, be silly, laugh and run, play peek-a-boo, hug and kiss, to stand or sit, and simply be who you always are. The camera will pick up what you are feeling, good, or bad, so be ready to keep little ones as happy as possible. Have bubbles, suckers, juice, and favorite lovies available. Most important, DON’T stress. Catching kids in their craziness makes great photos.
Sometimes I will get your attention and tell you to look at me, other times I will just sit back and watch your family unfold. These are usually the most precious photos when your being yourself and interacting naturally.
Location
As a natural light photographer I prefer to shoot outdoors and with indirect sunlight. Although if your house or other indoor location is well lit with lots of windows that would be great too. We can meet at the location of your choice in the greater Indianapolis and surrounding areas. Some of my favorite spots are downtown Indy, the IMA, Southeastway Park, near any colorful buildings or in wide open fields. I generally love any place with an interesting, colorful background, and often times, your backyard is the perfect spot!
What is included in your session?
Time, travel and talent of the photographer. All digital editing. Sessions will last 1-2 hours, with the exception of newborn and senior sessions which may last longer. Newborn sessions allow plenty of time for feeding, changing, and soothing baby; senior sessions to allow for wardrobe changes and location changes.
How long will it take to get my order?
All photographs are edited and available for viewing within 3 weeks of your session. Often times it doesn't take nearly that long! I work very hard to get your images to you as quickly as possible. Print orders placed will be available within 1-2 weeks.
Newborn sessions
Newborn sessions may take place in your home or in another location of your choosing. If needed, I make my home available for the session as well. Newborn sessions can last anywhere from 1-4 hours to allow plenty of breaks for feeding, changing and soothing baby. Newborns are best photographed in the first 2 weeks of life so they are extra sleepy and easier to pose. Also, colic and newborn acne usually flair at the 2-3 week mark. Please contact me before your due date to insure I have time held available to photograph your newborn!
Family * Children * Maternity
These sessions may take place in your home or in another location of your choosing. They generally last about 1 hour, but I know that sometimes you are having so much fun it may take a bit longer. The amount of time is the least of my concern. We’ll keep going till I feel like we’ve got what we need. Feel free to bring snacks, toys or anything else to help hold the attention of little ones. Bribing is wholeheartedly welcome!!
Seniors
Senior sessions may take place anywhere! You choose! I love being able to go to those special places that you may love or we can explore other locations as well. Bring your favorite things, gear or other ways to showcase what you’ve been involved in. This is time to capture memories that you’ll look back on for the rest of your life. These sessions can take anywhere from 1-3 hours, and can be with as many outfits and locations as it takes to get the job done.
Engagements
Engagement sessions may take place anywhere! You choose! I love being able to go to those special places that are meaningful for the two of you or we can explore other locations as well. Engagement sessions generally last form 1-2 hours depending on wardrobe and location changes.
